Privacy Policy
Privacy is the foundation of Atlantean Engine, not an afterthought. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how our AI is built to never see your raw data, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Atlantean Engine ("Atlantean Engine," "we," "us," or "our") operates the platform at atlanteanengine.com and its four engines: Discovery, Finance, Business, and Education. This policy applies to all of them. The Discovery Engine is free and can be used without an account.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your name and email address. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, never in plain text.
- Profile information: optional details such as your age range and zip code. We collect these to give you more relevant insights and to identify where financial education support is needed most. We use this to advocate for communities, not to target you.
- Financial information you enter: budgets, income sources, transactions, debts, goals, and similar figures you choose to record. This data is yours.
- Business documents: if you use the Business Engine, receipts and invoices you upload are scanned to extract structured data (for example, amounts and dates).
- Payment information: subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number. Stripe handles card data under its own security and privacy terms.
- Usage and device information: limited, privacy-preserving analytics about how the product is used. The Discovery Engine uses cookie-based anonymous analytics only and never requires an account.
- Communications: messages you send us, for example by email.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to operate the engines and their tools, to generate insights through Atlantean Intelligence (described below), to process subscriptions and free trials, to respond to your messages and provide support, and to improve the product using aggregated, de-identified information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your financial data to advertise to you.
4. How our AI handles your data
Our AI is built so that it never receives your raw personal or financial data. Deterministic algorithms run inside our secure infrastructure and produce a structured "findings" object: aggregates, trends, and computed scenarios. Only that findings object, which contains no raw records and no personally identifiable information, is sent to the AI to generate plain-language insights. The result: the AI cannot leak data it never received. In the Education Engine, AI never engages directly with students and never receives student data under any circumstance.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies for essential functionality and privacy-preserving analytics. The Discovery Engine relies on cookie-based anonymous analytics only. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and we honor a decline choice for non-essential cookies.
6. How we share information
We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the platform, and only to the extent needed:
- Supabase (database and authentication)
- Stripe (payment processing)
- Anthropic (AI generation from the findings object described above)
- Cloudflare and Vercel (hosting and content delivery)
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the platform. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
7. Data retention
We retain the data you enter while your account is active. AI insight history is retained for up to three months. When you delete your account or request deletion, we remove your associated data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.
8. Your rights and choices
Through our Data Democracy data-rights features you can view a full summary of your data, see your session history, export your data, delete your data (processed within 30 days), sign out of all devices, set your communication preferences, view your AI history, and opt in or out of community insights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, including rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any right, contact us at mark@atlanteanengine.com.
9. Children's privacy
The Finance and Business engines are intended for adults. The Education Engine is used by learners, including minors, through schools and through parent-managed enrollment. We comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). For student users, AI never engages with students and never receives student data, all student-facing lesson content is human-written, and student records are handled under the direction of the school or parent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 outside of a school or parent-consented context.
10. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and the AI architecture described above, which keeps raw data away from the AI layer entirely. No system is perfectly secure, but privacy is built into the design of the platform.
11. International users
Atlantean Engine is operated from the United States. If you access the platform from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you.
